In this vein, ecotourism-for-conservation is presented as something that is
distinctly people oriented. ‘Community ecotourism’, or simply ‘community
tourism’, are now often the favoured terms amongst NGOs. Community tourism
has been most clearly set out by British campaigning group Tourism Concern,
who see it as ‘people first’ rather than ‘environment first’. Their Community
Tourism Guide offers a brief analysis of this type of tourism and lists holidays that
conform to this. They define ‘Community Tourism’ simply as: ‘tourism that
involves and benefits local communities’
