Anti-Corruption Laws Worldwide
Corruption is widely recognised to be morally and economically suspect. As a result, numerous international anti-corruption conventions have been established, including
The OECD Convention on Combating Bribery of Foreign Public Officials in International Business Transactions
The Inter-American Convention Against Corruption
The United Nations Convention Against Corruption
The African Union Convention Against Corruption and
The Council of Europe Criminal Law Convention on Corruption
At a minimum, these conventions make it illegal for organisations and their employees to make any sort of payment or give anything of value to a government official for the purpose of obtaining or retaining business or directing business to any person or to provide any other improper advantage.
