A source from a domestic producer added, "Sentiment has turned bearish again now that oil has gone below $40/barrel and we think that ample supplies stemming from additions of new coal-based capacities will keep prices depressed until after the Chinese New Year holidays." Prices also turned lower in the import market, with prices for homo-PP injection and raffia falling $5-22/ton to be quoted at $808-890/ton CFR China, cash equivalent basis. A trader reported purchasing Indian raffia at the low end of the range at $820-830/ton CFR, 90 days. "Prices are coming down again and deals are limited. Most buyers are placing bids at around $800/ton these days," the trader stated. Another trader who reported receiving offers for Indian raffia at $820/ton CFR, 90 days commented, "Prices for a Saudi Arabian origin have been quoted at as low as $850/ton to Vietnam. The producer has not given new offers to China yet, but we expect their new offers to be at or below $850."
