In the ME composites, ME coupling is strain-mediated. This can be understood as follows. The magnetic field induces strain in BFO which is mechanically transferred to BTO ( ferroelectric component) to induce dipoles and hence an electric field is developed due to the induced dipoles.Thus,in the composites,at the interface between the two phases, strain (elastic deformation) induced in one component is transferred to the other component. From the ME coupling results of the two studied composites, therefore, it is understood that strain mediated coupling in BDFCO–BTO composite is more than in BDFO–BTO composite.
