The main character who drives this story worthy enough to follow from the beginning till the end is inevitably Loll Zirafa, the owner of the olive farm who is persistent in finding lawsuit at all times. Nevertheless, three of his dominant characters I am really impressed in, despite possibly being antagonistic to others’ viewpoint, are over-reactive and histrionic, but determined, prudent and attentive, and highly managerial. At the early prelude of the story, Don Loll seemed to make the reader regard him as the one who always makes the mountain out of mole hill by having the dispute and quarrel with the potter just because of trivial matters. Moreover, Don Loll had to pay a lot on the costs of lawsuits for both sides that made the lawyer grow tried. However, it is obvious that Don Loll keeps his utmost determination to reach the point where he thinks it is justice. This is one of the good examples for others to follow in term of determination and decisiveness. Another his characteristic that is impressive for me is that he is such a prudent and attentive man that he persists in having Uncle Dima to use both cement and rivet for repairing the jar in spite of the repairer’s argument as his words saying, “Why! You wretched fool, I’ve got to put oil in that jar, and don’t you know that oil oozes? Yards and yards to join together, and you talk of using cement alone! I want rivets- cement and rivets. It’s for me to decide”. This shows his prudence and attentiveness toward the item that helps him eke out a living. Moreover, Don Loll showed his managerial skills as well as be able to cope with multi-tasking matters. This claim can be supported by one section of this story when Don Loll was supervising the workers to harvest olive crop; simultaneously, he was able to mandate the others with mule-loads of manure to be deposited in heap on the hillside while he was sowing the beans for the next crop himself. This can be seen that though his being bossy, he not only has the master of good management by allocating works to his workers properly but Don Loll also takes the real action himself, which is the good exemplary for his workers to work assiduously like him. It is apparent that Loll’s actions speak louder than his words.
