The Preah Vihear Temple is an ancient Hindu temple, situated in the Dangrek Mountains at the border between the Kingdom of Cambodia and the Kingdom of Thailand. The Temple, built between the 9th and 11th century, is dedicated to the Hindu deity Shiva and beholds great cultural and religious value. It is also a famous tourist attraction. For these reasons, the United Nations Educational Scientific and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO) inscribed the Preah Vihear Temple on the World Heritage List following a request from Cambodia in 2008.2
