Rule curves are fundamental guidelines
for long term reservoir operation.
Normally Rule curves are searched by
reservoir simulation, model and
optimization techniques. The monthly
input data of reservoir simulation
includes historic inflows, rainfall,
evaporation , infiltration, physical
characteristics of the reservoir and
conditional rule curves. This paper
developed the genetic algorithm
optimization technique (GA)
connected with simulation model for
searching optimal daily rule curve of
the Mosul regulating reservoir. The
recorded inflows and water level for 17
years (1986-1990) and (1994-2007) are
used in the developed model for
assessing the reservoir operation
