This paper proposes a design and construction of automatic LED street lighting using solar energy. A 65W,12V, 5.41A solar cell panel is used to transform solar energy into electrical energy. 12V ,10A battery charger is designed to charge a 12V 100 Ah battery during the daytime. LDR is functioned as a lighting sensor to switch on 25W LED which are used as light sources during the night time. From the experimental result, the general street light used can be replaced by the designing LED street lighting with less energy consumption. The designing LED street light can also be installed in the rural area where the transmission line can not reach.
