Cabinet approves adjustments and improvements to Thailand’s civil aviation safety standards to be in accordance with the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO).
1. Approval to increase 48 personnel and officials for Thai aviation agencies, as well as adjustments to salaries for civil aviation experts.
2. Approval of an adjustment to the organizational structure as well as the establishment of clearer defined roles of Thai aviation agencies in terms of their operational system as advised by the ICAO. The agencies will now be divided into 4 categories which are policy, regulatory, operational, and aviation accident investigation.
3. Approval of adjustments to laws and regulations are to be in accordance with the standards of ICAO. The first set of adjustments is in accordance with existing bureaucratic procedures. The second set, involving adjustments to the organizational structure, involved the use of article 44 in order to accelerate the process so as to meet the timeframe given by the ICAO.
