Jack Bigman is the supervisor of Food and Beverage Services at the South Florida Lodge. Bigman is concerned about worker Joe Little's performance on the job. The daily performance reports and Bigman's observations resulted in a conference with Joe. Essentially the supervisor said, "Joe, the system says that I have to talk to you about your job performance. It has never been very good, and it is not improving a bit. I think you can improve if you work hard and get the right attitude. Up front, I will say that I am going to discipline you, and this conference is first with a verbal warning that you are lazy, you waste time, and you have a poor attitude. If you do not improve soon, I will have to fire you. I'm sorry OK?
Joe: "OK."

2. Suggest ways in which the supervisor could have been more effective.
