BEIJING-A joint expedition of Chinese, Soviet and US climbers who had planned to celebrate "Earth Day" by conquering Everest together finally reached the summit yesterday,15 day late because of bad weather.
The official New China News Agency said two climber from each country made it to the top of the 29,028 feet (8,848 meters) mountain from the Chinese side in Tibet early in the afternoon.
The team planned to claer up piles of rubbish left on the world's highest peak by previous expedition.-Reuter
