Purpose and Significance
The purpose of this study is to find out elementary 6-8 grades teachers' views on assessment
and evaluation methods, frequency of use and their level of adequacy in these methods.
Assessment and evaluation is day to day routines of teachers. However, together with the
developments in educational sciences practices of assessment and evaluation are changing. It
is important to see how teacher are inclined to adopt new developments in assessment and
evaluation together with the implementation of new curriculums. This study identifies the
teachers’ use of traditional and alternative assessment and evaluation methods together with
their views on how they feel themselves competent with these methods.
