Who knows they are typically relegated to some cramped, uncomfortable waiting area. Some hospitals, however, have taken steps to improve the ambience of the emergency room waiting area.
St.Vincent’ s Hospital in New York City worked with a furniture design company to install warm colors and lighting in its emergency room waiting area. The objective was to create a “warm glow” Charlotte, North Carolina’s Presbyterian Hospital just opened a pediatric emergency room with beach murals on the ceilings and video games for kids.
