In this study, the Rayleigh number was found to be less than 10
and hence in the analysis the flow was assumed to be laminar. Boussinesq approximation was utilized to solve the momentum equation which treats density to be constant, except for the buoyancy term in the momentum equation (Natarajan et al., 2012). The ambient temperature was set to be at 20 C, and the respective thermal expansion coefficient of air at the said temperature was 0.00287 K. Discrete Ordinates (DO) radiation model was employed to simulate thermal radiation exchange in cavity receiver as well as the glass cover. DO model can be used to model semi-transparent walls (e.g., glass) and can work across the full range of optical thickness.
