Respondents were asked where they sought care for diarrhoea and dysentery occurring in children (aged < 5 years) and adults (aged > 15 years). Health centres or hospitals were the first treatment choice for 78% of households where children had dysentery (95% confidence interval (CI) = 63–94%); and
