Miliaria
Miliaria affects around 15% of newborns and is
caused by occlusion of the sweat duct (Lund, 2012).
Presentation is more common around the neck
and upper body, which can be resolved by cooling
the body and wearing loose clothing.
Miliaria presents as spots that develop in skin
folds and on the body. White spots—caused by
blocked pores—are usually seen on the face.
The spots resolve spontaneously within the first
4 weeks, but this process can take up to 6 weeks,
as the plugs which form in the sweat duct
