In addition, identical clones have been detected in environmental clone libraries, most notably, for example, the predominant clone sequence of the Casper contaminated site sediment, WY, USA,
retrieved by Callaghan et al. [7]. Identical clones were also retrieved by Pilloni et al. [35] from 13C7-toluene-amended iron-reducing SIP microcosms, and ferric iron-dependent toluene degradation was assigned to them. Our results indicate that these bacteria may also have a role in the microaerobic degradation of BTEX compounds.
