Nakhon Ratchasima Provincial Administration in cooperation with the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT), the Fine Arts Department and the Nakhon Ratchasima City Municipal Office has scheduled to stage the annual Phimai Festival from 5 to 9 November 2014.
The festival is to celebrate the glorious period of Phimai, and the significant role the town played in the ancient time.
Highlights during this year’s festival include:
Light and sound presentation at Brahmathat Court of the Phimai Historical Park that will tell the story of the glorious period of King Jayavarman VII. The show as well as Khon or classical Thai mask dance will take place nightly during 5-9 November from 19.30 – 21.00 hrs.
Traditional long-boat competitions for the royal trophy Chakkarat Stream, one of the Thailand’s most perfect boat-race venues. The races will take place during the weekend of 8-9 November from 08.00-17.00 hrs.
In addition, there will be an exhibition on Phimai history, a Korat cat competition, a traditional arts and crafts fair, Phimai Contest – a youth country music singing competition, and other cultural performances.
