Significance for public health
This article provides a timely review of the burden imposed by tuberculosis
in the Canadian Province of Quebec. It reviews the existing literature on the
epidemiology of tuberculosis in Quebec using both government and literature
sources. In so doing, this article provides public health policy makers
with an invaluable and updated review of the current prevalence of tuberculosis
amongst at risk population groups in the Province of Quebec. Such
information should be extremely helpful to planning current and future
health intervention strategies designed to control and reduce the burden of
illness posed by tuberculosis and to plan cost-effective and appropriate treatment
and management options in an optimal manner.
