Life Science Logistics for Laboratory Animals
Laboratory animals represent a subset of animals transported by air and are distinguished by intended use in research or testing and, in some cases, specialized anatomic, genetic, physiologic, or metabolic conditions that differ from other members of the same species. While the term ‘Laboratory Animals’ could potentially include a wide range of wild and domestic species used for food, fibre or pets, in practice it is generally applied to those animals with a defined health or genetic status and usually purpose-bred for their intended use in research. The following guidance applies only to these animals and is meant to complement guidance in other chapters.
