The specific compensation for
each muscle is likely dependent on the role the muscle
plays in knee stability. The quadriceps can contribute to
knee instability by drawing the tibia anteriorly in
relationship to the femur. Isolated contraction of the
quadriceps has been found to increase ACL strain [7–9].
