In contrast, no negative lag time was observed for downshift experiments, from 25 _C, to 20 and 15 _C. This can be explained by a smaller magnitude of the shift. For example the difference between the steady-state germination times at 25 and 15 _C, was about 10 h only, as compared to a difference of 33.3 h between 25 and 10 _C. In addition the profiles of the germination rate at 20, and 15 _C remained unknown. Downshift experiments carried out from 20, and 15 _C, to 10 _C would provide useful information for future modeling of the induced lag time due to temperature shifts.
