Atletico Madrid have arguably overachieved in the past few seasons. Their lifting of the title and reaching the Champions League final in the 2013-14 season was little short of an astonishing 12 months for the Spanish side. It may, however, be some time before they challenge Barcelona and Real Madrid in La Liga or threaten in Europe, as the clubs around them continue to grow stronger. There is only so much that the Argentine can do with Atleti, and it may now be time for him to assess his options. Chelsea would be a serious challenge, but one that could be appealing, particularly given the array of world-class talent, such as Eden Hazard, whose revival he could be credited with.
