Egypt has been witnessing almost daily protests by supporter of elected Islamist president Mohamed Morsi since the army removed him in July after mass protests against his rule. Security force have since killed hundreds of his supporter, while some 200 soldiers and policeman have also been killed, many in attacks by Islamist militants. Students supporting Mr Morsi have been staging daily protests for months inside and outside their universities, despite an army-backed law that made it compulsory to seek Interior Ministry permission to hold any kind of demonstration.
