SEM analysis carried out on the surface of the dried films showed that the surfaces of the materials were very homogeneous and smooth regardless the type of agar or the solution composition (Fig. 4). Pure agar films(e.g. AA; Fig. 4B) showed similar surfaces to that of a commercial agar(A-7002,Sigma–Aldrich,Co.,St.Louis,
MO) film used as reference (Fig. 4A). The blended films were also similar and very homogeneous. Illustrative examples of films with higher LBG contents are shown in Fig. 4C (25/75 AA/LBG)and D
(25/75 NA/LBG).These films showed large fibrous particles when observed at higher magnifications(Fig. 4E and F)which could be interpreted as large aggregates of galactomannan chains.
