A review of the literature indicates that no studies have been conducted to examine rates of internet café consumption in Thailand. However, the large number of cyber cafés in the nation (Brash & Bush, 2010) indicates their popularity, and further evidence for their widespread use comes from a recent study of health information searching, which found that 54% of Thai students had accessed information at an Internet café (Kitikannakorn & Sitthiworanan, 2009). The most recent data from Thailand's National Statistical Office (2012) indicates that 28.8% of Thai internet users have accessed the internet at cyber cafés; however, the majority continue to access the internet at home, work, and educational institutions (see Figure 2 below).
