increased daily intake of n-6 in comparison with n-3
unsaturated fatty acids (Weiss et al., 2005). Alteration of
their unfavourable ratio in human diet and animal nutrition becomes an imperative. The ultimate objective is to
reduce the content of linolic acid (LA), and increase both
the content of linolenic acid (LNA) and direct attainment of
long chain polyunsaturated fatty acids (LCPUFA).
