should I give up all hope of a cure?
Advances in our understanding of pain are happening all the time, and who knows what the future may bring? However, it is helpful to focus on working towards a meaningful, active, and satisfying life today, rather than on the possibility of a cure in the future.
What happens on the programme?
You will work closely with a team of physiotherapists, psychologists, nurses, doctors, and occupational therapists. We will teach you skills to help you address the challenge of living with chronic pain. We help you to understand your pain, and overcome your fears about it. We help you to reduce tablets that don't work. We do stretching and exercise sessions. And we help you to learn ways of relaxing and challenging negative ways of thinking, and so avoid depression.
Will this programme really help me to improve my life, even though my pain hasn't gone away?
Yes, it is possible. Many people who follow our programme, and similar programmes around the world, report that they have achieved a more balanced and fulfilling life. They achieve this despite their chronic pain.
