regarding social, emotional, and behavioral difficulties children experience to achieve this goal.
Education regarding differentiation of typical and
transient behavior problems versus long-term and
concerning problems, issues related to emotional
regulation, and knowledge of risk factors will
provide nurses working with young children and
families important information for identifying
children and families in need of intervention.

behaviors, the nurse must discern when to worry
and when a referral is appropriate
