Located on a 20-ha commercial, conventional apple orchrad in the Yakima Valley(),the 1.7-ha study area was planted in 1994 as a randomized complete block design with four replicaions of three treatments:ORG,CON, and INT (Reganold et al.,2001). The research site was bordered on the north and west by the commercial orchard and by unsprayed pasture on the south and east side. Each of the 12 experimemtal plots were 0.14 ha and consisted of 4 rows(spaced 3.2m apart)each 80 trees (spaced 1.4m apart)long trained on a 3-wire trellis system for a density of 2240 tree/ha.
