3. Characterization
3.1. Surface morphology of nanofiber hybrid yarns
The surface morphology of the electrospun hybrid yarns, electrospun nanofibers in the body of hybrid yarns and presence of silver nanoparticles were characterized by scanning electron microscopy (SEM) (Zeiss, Merlin Series). This microscope was equipped with Energy Dispersive X-ray Spectroscopy (EDS). The EDS can provide qualitative, and quantitative analysis of elemental composition with a sampling depth of 1–2 μm. Firstly, the hybrid nanofiber yarns were coated with a gold layer and then observed by SEM. The average diameter of hybrid yarns and nanofibers in the yarn body was determined using the Digimizer 4.1.1.0 software through measuring at least 20 and 100 measurements respectively.
