This interplay of structure, screens and roofs give the building its spatial generosity, three dimensional character and conceptual clarity. The interplay between strength and lightness, openness and enclosure, rawness and clarity are central to the building’s program and define the building’s strength and beauty. It’s a generous building that inspires and lifts you. The pavilion was in part inspired by the historic Audley Picnic Shelter in Australia’s oldest national park, a much loved and well used building, highly regarded for its structural honesty, constructional simplicity, human scale and quality of containment
