The lowest and highest selenium levels in fish species were
found as 0.420 mg kg1 in L. rohita and 1.038 mg kg1 in P. pangasius.
Selenium contents in the literature have been reported in the
range of 0.23–0.38 mg kg1 in fish (Mansilla-Rivera and Rodrı´guez-
Sierra, 2011), 0.040–1.03 mg kg1 in fish and shellfish samples
(Noël et al., 2012), 1.1–3.0 mg kg1 in fish (Carvalho et al., 2005).
The maximum daily dietary selenium intake is recommended as
0.3 mg d1 for adult humans (EFSA, 2006).
