Although the effects of high Ta and disease on animal physiology and performance have been well documented, little is known
about the associated effects of both factors. Understanding how different environmental factors interact in the physiological response is particularly important in the context of climate change
and the associated variation in climatic conditions (e.g. high temperatures, changes in precipitation patterns, occurrence of extreme
events and disease), which are particularly pertinent for production animal systems in developing countries (Hoffmann, 2013).
