Stressful environment may play a role in the pathophysiology
of aggression. Thus, social interactions and, more
generally, the patient’s environment should be explored
in schizophrenia patients showing persistent aggression.
It is possible that modifications of such interactions may
improve response to pharmacological treatment. Working
closely with the patient, the family, and caregivers is
of paramount importance. The approach must be tailored
to the particular environment at hand.
