For a lot of us, it’s still not quite sunk in and we’re all in shock. Our five boys are now four.
We’ve already heard from Zayn, the band and Simon Cowell in the official statement released yesterday, but other related names are now coming forward with their opinions.
One of those is Louis Walsh, an X Factor judge who was there right at the start of the 1D journey. Talking on RTE Radio One, he said: “I have heard the rumours for the last few weeks that everything wasn’t happy in paradise.
“The problem with these guys is they’ve been in a bubble for the last five years, pressure, working, a lot harder than people think, so something had to give. So Zayn was the first person just to crack up a little bit.
“He’s had an amazing time with the other guys. That’s the good side of it. The dark side of it is all the travelling, the airports, in a bubble, not really seeing real life.”
Meanwhile, sending a tweet to fans after the shocking news, Harry wrote: “All the love as always. H”
Liam also tweeted: “So glad to be in bed after a long and strange 24 hours”
We’re happy for Zayn – after being in the world’s most incredible band, he can settle down to a normal life, possibly marry Perrie and get back to being happy.
We really hope the band carry on going for many more years. It won’t be the same without Zayn, but we still have four of the most amazing boys in the world together, and we’re excited for the future. The statement confirmed a fifth album was on the way, and although we’re always gonna miss Zayn, we’re all still together as part of the 1D family.
Our plans for today? Listen to the first four albums on a loop and cry.
