Literally hundreds of chemicals can be added to paint batches (both liquid paint
and powder) to improve the paint performance in a specific way. These additives
are usually considered to be a distinct category of paint ingredients. Sometimes,
however, an additive can also be a pigment. A unique type of binder can, in some
instances, be considered to be an additive. Some additive types include:
Antiblock agents
Antifreeze Softening agents
Blending aids
Curing agents Thixotropes
Defoamers UV stabilizers
Flow control agents
Gloss modifiers
Storage stabilizers
