used to be a hotel manager but now he has one of the most unusual jobs in Britain. Every day since he left the hotel jon's job has been to climb Helvellyn a mountain in the Lake District and check the weather counditions at the summit The information which he gathers is then passed to the Lake District telephone Weatherlinne service The Weatherline has been in operation for 33 years and is used by nearlty half a million walkers every year They have come to rely on it to check that it is safe before setting off up the mountain Although Helevllyn is only 950 metres tall weather condition at the summit can change rapidly and every year the mountain claims the lives of a number of visitors During his childhood jon lived in Buckinghamshire in the south of England but he regularly visited the Lake District on family holidays and fell in love with the beautiful landscape he studied catering at college and took the first opportunity to move north and find a job in a hotel in the area when he sew the advertisement for the job with Weatherline he jumped at the opportunity and couldn't believe his luck when they told him he'd got the job 'i still can't believe it he says it's a dream come true
