Notice that your database form appears as you designed it,
but each field begins with a two-character code that Q&A supplied automatically.
These internal codes are the mechanism by which Q&A keeps track of the data for each field in each record.
To avoid damaging your database,
always observe these rules when redesigning a form:
_When you move a field, move the code with it.
_When you delete a field , delete its code.
_When you add a field, let Q&A supply the code
automatically when it updates your form design.
_If you accidentally erase a code, retype it precisely as it appeared.
If you can't remember it, press Esc.
Then select Y-YES on the Warning screen pictured in Figure 9-3 to return to the File Menu and start over.
Editing Your Form Design
The functions described in Lesson 2 for designing a form are also available for redesigning it.
In addition, you can always press F1 from the Redesign screen to display a help screen (shown in Figure 9-4) summarizing common editing procedures.
When you finish editing your form:

1. Press F10 to save your redesigned form and display the format spec.
2. Make any necessary changes to field information types and press F10 to save them.
3. If your form contains date, hour, money, or number fields, Q&A displays the Global Format Options screen.
4.Select the global formatting options you want and press F10 to seve them.
5. If you added fields with text or keyword information types to your form and you've already "taught" the Query Guide about your database ,
Q&A displays the screen (shown in Figure9-5) providing the opportunity to add these fields to your Query Guide index now.
Refer to Lesson 24 for details on teaching the Query Guide.
6. Select Yes - Add fields or No-Don't add fields.
7. Q&A returns to File Menu.

Losing Data you delete a field, Q&A displays a warning message advising you that you might lose some data.

Adding Custom Features
Q&A lets you further tailor you database form to speed up data entry and enhance its appearance.
The C-Customize a file selection in the Design Menu Provides the following options:
_F-Format values for controlling the information type of data entered in a field and how that data is formatted
_R-Restrict values for limiting the range of values you can enter in a field
_T-Field template for controlling the format of data entry and automatically supplying commonly used characters
_I-Set initial values for automatically filling in fields with common values
_S-Speed up searches for accelerating the retrieval of records for fields you frequently use when searching for information
_D-Define custom help for preparing special help messages for any field
_C-Change palatte for selecting colors, shading, and underlining to enhance your form
