PATEK 5116 vs 5119 How much of a difference does Email / Enamel make?
Have never seen a Patek with Email Dial in person...
Is there something special in the look and feel of the 5116 to take this watch with its premium over the regular 5119 ?
I have seen some pictures of the 5116 and thought that there is no visual difference to the regular dial at all...
So... can someone explain to me why one should pay the premium of the 5116 for reasons other than its rarity and the longevity of enamel dials?
Is there a difference to other enamel dials (from, say, Breguet) anyways?
Thank you

I honestly don't know the answer to your questions. I have in my bundle of reference links the articles noted below. Perhaps you'll find something in them that will allow you to accurately glean the answer you seek.
-- Enamel dial: sophisticated hand work
-- What Makes a Beautiful Dial and Hand [3/98] - TimeZone
-- Enamel Cult - Forbes
-- Lacquering: Blank
All the best.

Thanks Tony for your help.
I´ll read those articles in a couple of minutes I visited my Uncle yesterday who has quite a nice collection of pocket watches so i could see some Enamel dials in Person. Surprisingly, the beauty of those dials hasnt come from the printing of the numerals, but more from the "white" part of the dial, which, at certain angles, had a nice structure to it. Quite impressive was, how good those dials looked after 120 + years ! However, my opinion before checking your links: Not worth 3500 Bucks ;)
