A new NiO-PBT nanocomposite fiber coating was prepared by a
simple electrospuning method. The synthesized PBT-based nanocomposite
has proven to be structurally porous and homogeneous.
The use of stainless steel as an alternative of fused silica, ensures
much greater mechanical stability and robustness. The prepared
fiber is unbreakable, low cost, and easy to handle. Relative
recoveries along with other analytical data confirm that the NiOPBT
nanocomposite is an appropriate candidate for SPME.
Moreover, the chemical structure of NiO-PBT nanocomposite
favorably contributes to hydrophobic and p–p interaction
between analytes and the coating, making the NiO-PBT nanocomposite
a rather sensitive and robust probe for extracting
volatile organic compounds.
