DOPA-oxidase inhibition effect (whitening effect) of Nelumbo nucifera’s leaf, seed and flower extract was 59%, 57% and 50%, respectively, whereas that of arbutin was 44%. Nelumbo nucifera’s leaf, flower and seed extracts showed 56%, 54% and 49% elastase inhibition at 200 μg/ml while adenosine indicates 26% inhibition.
