This block is designed to set the tone for the class, help you identify leaders and group dynamics, establish a foundation for teamwork, and begin to develop in students a change in attitude regarding the realities and risks related to being lifeguard, compared to what they may envision. This is one reason we start with cleaning up vomit, and poop, and introduce Basic Life Support skills at this stage in the course. The basic BLS concepts and skills developed in this block will serve as the foundation for performing integrated CPR scenarios later in the course.
