Thus, considering the need for natural sorbents for oil
remediation, the recycled wool-based nonwoven material
(RWNM) was developed. Our previous work (Radetic
et al., 2002, 2003) demonstrated that biopolymer chitosan
and low-temperature air plasma treatments of
RWNM negatively affected an oil sorption, indicating that
untreated sorbent was sufficiently efficient for the removal
of oil from water and oil without water.
