Composites and samples were prepared by using simple one- step injection molding process reported by Chau et al. [26]. Firstly, the raw materials were dried at 100 C for 10 h in vacuum. Then, PC pellets with 1 wt.% pristine and modified SiO2 nano- particles were compounded in a counterrotating twin-screw micro extruder (SJZS-10, Wuhan Rayzone Ming Plastics Machinery Co.Ltd, China) with a melt temperature of 260 C and a screw speed of 30 rpm. The extrudates were granulated for subsequent injection molding. After that, the test samples were injection molded by using a plunger pre-plasticating injection molding machine. The referential neat PC samples suffered the same heat history as composite ones. The composites with 1 wt.% pristine and modified SiO2 nanoparticles are marked as PC/SiO2 and PC/KH560eSiO2, respectively.
