The rear handle does not have a touch sensor, even though the rubber coating feels similar to touch sensors. The owner must press the hatch/trunk release before the Certification ECU pulse the oscillator, verify the codes, and command the Body ECU to open the hatch. This is why there is a longer delay when waiting for the trunk to unlock than there is when waiting for the doors to unlock.
