The new compounds 1-8 were tested for their anti-inflammatory
activity and cytotoxicity. The results of the anti-inflammatory assay
are shown in Table 4. Alstoyunines C (3), E (5), and F (6) showed
selective inhibition of Cox-2 (>75%). The cytotoxic assay showed
that alstoyunine F (6) displayed weak activity against the human
myeloid leukemia HL-60 (IC50 ) 3.89 μM) and hepatocellular
carcinoma SMMC-7721 (IC50 ) 21.73 μM) cell lines, while other
compounds were noncytotoxic (IC50 > 40 μM).
