(1)Areas where the long-term yearly averaged wind speed is greater than 6 ms−1 at height of 100 m above ground level were deemed suitable for installation of turbines. This lower limit of wind speed was selected because Thailand is located in an equatorial zone with relatively low wind speed and a threshold of 6 ms−1 was considered to be sufficient for modern low-wind speed wind turbines (DOE, 2008).
