Introduction
Ever since Prestige Scheduler was first released, reporting has been done via Crystal Reports®. During that time,
Crystal Reports has gone through several different owners and has become relatively heavy-weight both in terms
of capabilities but also in terms of size and overhead.
From version 6 onwards, we are pleased to announce that reports are now available that have been developed
with the DevExpress Report-writer. The added bonus afforded to our users by switching to DevExpress report
writer is that DevExpress provide their report development tool as a royalty-free re-distributable. This means we
can make the DevExpress report developer tool available to you without charge. That is certainly not the case
with Crystal.
You can learn more about the DevExpress XtraReports product and its end-user capabilities here.
Because many users have customized Crystal Reports already developed, we support the ability in version 6 to
render reports that have been developed in either Crystal or DevExpress. The version 6 report renderer
recognises reports by the extension on their file-names. Crystal reports are assumed to end with “.rpt” whereas
DevExpress reports are assumed to end with “.repx”. Both types of report will still need to be kept in the Prestige
Scheduler nominated directory.
Standard alternative reports that are available as DevExpress reports are:
1. Schedule Lists
2. Lates
3. Capacity-Analysis
4. Transactions
