Godwin (2003) claimed that explanatory research seeks to maximize the internal validity by assuring rigorous control of all variables other than the intervention. Discussing validity is important not only for estimating the trustworthiness of research findings but also for scrutinising the aims and scope of the method used (Moret et al. 2007). Moret et al. (2007) further discusses validity as an instrument for improving methodology. The creditability of qualitative methods hinges to a great extent on the skill, competence, and rigor of the person conducting the fieldwork (Patton 2002)
